Digital Printing vs Offset Printing for Business Cards

The Business Box offers both digital printing and offset printing to its customers. What is the difference? The main differences between offset and digital printing our as follows:

Digital Printing is Fast. Digital printing requires very little set physical set up - there are no printing plates required, and therefore we can print immediately after receipt of a good PDF file. With modern equipment, colour are excellent, but we limit the spectrum to colour produced by mixing four CMYK toner colour (cyan, magenta, yellow and black)
Digital colour control is excellent but not as accurate as offset. Digital Printing's precise colour are affected by many factors including moisture content of the paper, environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. As such, our colour consistency is about 95% consistent, compared to offfset printing.
Consistancy of specific colours is best controlled through Pantone inks; however pantone inks require a minimal run size in order to be economical. Contact us if you believe you need to use pantone inks. The Business Box often creates shells (multiple cards on one sheet printed in pantone colours) which we then can overprint with information specific employees information.
Offset printing offers a bigger spectrum of business card media - thicker stocks print better with offset technology.
